Dear Logan Families, 

I apologize for the delayed communication this week. I was out of the building yesterday.

I've been spending time visiting all of our classrooms to read a story with the kids. I'm reading Ish by Peter Reynolds, and it's been fun connecting with the students and sharing this story with each class. It's been one of the highlights of my week!

Logan's Annual Fundraiser - The Fun Run!

If you're new to Logan, you may be wondering what the Fun Run is. Fun Run is our biggest fundraiser of the year and helps to fund a lot of our kids enrichment activities and events! Fun Run will take place on October 7 during the day. Kids will run around our outdoor track and families are welcome to cheer them on!

To gear up for the Fun Run, we ask that all families register their kids on the Get Movin' platform and share their profile with friends and families to help gain donations. More information can be found in the PTSO newsletter.

M-STEP Reports Coming Home Friday, October 2

Students in grades 4 and 5 will bring home their M-STEP Parent Reports on Friday, October 2. These reports show how your child performed on last spring's state assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics.

If you have questions about your child's M-STEP results, please reach out to your child's teacher. They'll be happy to discuss the report with you and what it means for your child's learning this year.

Main Office Donations Needed

Logan's main office is looking for donations of hand sanitizer and tissues. We distribute these supplies to classrooms when they are in need. If you're able to contribute, please drop off items at the main office during school hours. Thank you for helping keep our school healthy!

New Logan ES @ Clague News - September 2026

To support construction of the new Logan Elementary, the following activities will take place on

the Clague Middle School campus and are referenced on the site plan below. To see all of the

information related to this project in one place, pleaseclick here to visit the New Logan Elementary page and feel free to bookmark the page to revisit, as content will continue to be posted.

 

Current Work, Weather Permitting:

• Floor slab pours continue, gym floor slab pour pictured below left.

• Stairwell pictured below right.

• Interior work including metal stud framing, drywall, mechanical, electrical and plumbing

continues.

• Roof installation is underway.

 

              

City of Ann Arbor Work:

• The Nixon Road Corridor Improvement Project is in-progress. Please visit the City’s

project page to sign up for City updates.

• Construction parking and construction access drives are for construction personnel

only and to ensure safety, staff and parents should refrain from using construction

parking and/or drives.

Curriculum Night – Tonight! 

We're looking forward to seeing you tonight, Monday, September 14 for Logan's Curriculum Night! This is a great opportunity to learn about what your child will be experiencing this year and to meet their teachers.

Agenda:

• 6:00–6:25pm: Classroom presentations (first session)

• 6:00–6:55pm: Specials & support teachers in the atrium

• 6:30–6:55pm: Classroom presentations (second session)

• 7:00–7:30pm: Whole-school meeting in cafeteria

Classroom teachers will present twice (6:00pm & 6:30pm), so you can choose the session that works best for you. Specials and support teachers will be available in the atrium from 6:00–7:00pm, and we'll wrap up with a whole-school presentation in the cafeteria at 7:00pm. This year, one of the items I’ll be sharing are some pictures from my tour of New Logan!

Library Volunteers Needed!

Our school librarian, Ms. Rodriguez, is looking for parent and community volunteers to help in the library this year! If you enjoy working with kids and books, this is a wonderful way to support our school community.

Volunteers help students as they return books, select new books, and check them out during their library class periods.

Interested in volunteering at Logan? We’d love to have you! But first, all adults must complete a background check prior to volunteering at Logan. This includes working in our classrooms, helping out in the lunchroom, supporting in the library, and going on field trips. Parking Reminder: Handicapped Parking Spaces

A friendly reminder that handicapped parking spaces in our parking lot are reserved exclusively for those with handicapped tags or license plates. Please do not park in these spots, even briefly, if you do not have the proper authorization. If you have a handicapped tag, please make sure it is prominently displayed in your window.

We have many families at Logan who need to make use of these spaces. Please be respectful of everyone's needs and help us ensure that accessible parking is available for those who require it. Thank you for your cooperation!

Logan Food Pantry Donations Needed

Logan maintains a food pantry to serve families and community members in need. We have two convenient locations where anyone can access food support:

1. Food pantry cabinet inside the main entrance, across from the main office (accessible during school hours) 

2. Food pantry cabinet outside the building, by the front doors (accessible at any time)

Both pantries are available to anyone who would benefit from extra food support. You will be warmly welcomed, no questions asked! Some items are kept in plastic bins to protect from rodents. We ask that you please make sure these are fully closed when you are done shopping.

We need your help to stock our pantries for the 26-27 school year! We would appreciate donations of non-perishable food items. Suggested items include:

• Canned vegetables and fruits

• Pasta and pasta sauce

• Rice and beans

• Cereal and oatmeal

• Peanut butter and jelly

• Canned soups and stews

• Crackers and snacks

You can drop off donations at the main office during school hours or place them directly in the indoor pantry cabinet. Once we have a collection of donations, we may reach out to request some volunteers willing to help us organize the pantries.

Dear Logan Families, 

What a fantastic first week back at school! It has been so great to have the kids back in the building, and our teachers have done an amazing job building strong classroom communities from day one. I hope your children came home happy and excited about the start of the school year!

We ended last week with our opening assembly on Thursday. We greeted the children in many of the different languages spoken here at Logan, shared the book All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold and Suzanne Kaufman, introduced the Logan staff, and spoke about some school-wide expectations. We also held our flag raising ceremony, though we did it inside because of the rain!

The week ended with a bit of unexpected excitement when a tornado warning went off right at dismissal on Friday. I am so proud of how well our students handled the situation, even though we haven't even practiced a severe weather drill yet! Thank you for your patience and cooperation during the extended dismissal. I'm glad we were able to keep everyone safe.

Lunchroom Supervisors: We are also looking for more people to work in our lunchroom as lunchroom supervisors. This is a paid, hourly position. Lunchroom staff work about two hours per day supervising during lunch and recess. It's a great way to spend some time with the kids during the day. Even if you can't work five days per week, we're still interested in talking to you!
