Half Day Reminder

This is a reminder that this Friday, October 29, 2021, is a half day for elementary students. School will dismiss at 11:28am. Please note that this time is different from our early release dismissal time. There are no after school activities. A grab and go lunch will be provided to any student who wants one.

Beats and Treats - Volunteers Needed

The Logan PTSO is hosting our annual Beats and Treats on Friday, October 29 from 5:30 until 7:30. We’ll have our class pumpkin raffle, fun games and activities, great music, and more! In order to keep our Logan community safe, this event will be held entirely outside. Students, staff, and families will be asked to wear masks, and not just their Halloween masks! I hope you and your family will be able to join us for the fun!

We need volunteers to help make this event a success. We have vacancies for all shifts right now. Please consider volunteering to sign up to help out. You can sign up to volunteer at the following link.

Dear Logan Families,

Wow! We had such a successful Fun Run last week. The weather was perfect for a day of running, and we finished the day with treats from the Kona Shaved Ice truck. Thank you to our Logan PTSO for organizing such a fantastic event. And, thank you to the entire Logan community for supporting our fundraising efforts. The official numbers aren’t in yet, but so far, we’ve raised over $16,000! This money will go directly to programming for students here at Logan. It helps fund teacher vouchers to purchase supplies for kids, activities like Beats and Treats and the Spring Carnival, enrichment activities, and more! Thank you for your generosity and for supporting our school!

I spent the day taking photos, and I’ve uploaded them into this Google folder (Link removed for this blog. Logan families can check their emails to access photos). Feel free to download any pictures of your kids. We will not be sharing them publicly.

Introducing Logan’s New PE Teacher

I am pleased to share that we have hired a new PE teacher. As you know, Ms. Singleton resigned in early Fall for personal reasons. Steve Kahldon will be Logan’s new PE teacher. Mr. Kahldon grew up in Michigan and lived in Arizona for the past 35 years.  He attended college at Arizona State University and also received his M. Ed at ASU.  Mr. Kahldon was on the bowling team at ASU for 4 years.  He has coached both baseball and basketball for 35 years. Mr. Kahldon has a background in biomechanics and was an assistant trainer for an Olympic gold medal sprinter.  Mr. Kahldon writes, “I am looking forward to getting to know all of the awesome Logan students!”

M-STEP Reports

Last Spring, a few Logan families opted to have their children take the M-STEP. M-STEP reports will be coming home this Thursday. Only those families who opted into the test will receive a report.

We'll have a live DJ, a large balloon arch for the kids to run through, and pom-poms for you to waive while they run! Please help us keep this event safe by wearing your masks and following social distancing recommendations.

The Fun Run is also an important fundraiser for our school. Money raised during the Fun Run pays for classroom supplies, teacher grants, enrichment activities at school, PTSO events, field trips, and so much more. Please check out the latest PTSO eBackpack for ways to donate.
