Hearing and Vision Screenings

Due to recent staffing changes within their Hearing and Vision Program, the Washtenaw County Health Department unfortunately is not able to conduct the Hearing and Vision screenings at Logan before the conclusion of the school year. The WCHD understands the importance of these screenings and apologizes for the inconvenience this may cause.

Families may still schedule free hearing and vision screenings with the WCHD program during the summer months. Additional information can be found on their website here.  In addition, depending on staff availability, we may be able to provide screenings during summer school or other school-related summer events.

Schools impacted by these cancellations will be prioritized as we begin scheduling for the fall screening season.

Visit the WCHD Hearing and Vision page for more information.

Dear Logan Families,

Last week, several staff members and I visited two schools in Portage that were designed by the same architects building our new Logan Elementary. What we saw was inspiring: beautiful, functional spaces where our staff will be able to continue the great work they do and where students will be able to thrive. The Portage staff shared so much about their experience moving to a new building. They shared how the new building itself changed their school culture in really positive ways, with students taking ownership of their spaces. While nothing is perfect, their enthusiasm and pride in their new home made me really excited about moving into the new space. Stay tuned as we begin preparing Logan for this exciting next chapter!

I also want to send a huge thank you to our Logan PTSO for organizing such a wonderful Staff Appreciation Week! From the in-flight breakfast cart on Monday to the themed activities throughout the week, the "PLANE Awesome" celebration was such fun! Your generosity and creativity made the week special for our teachers and staff. Thank you for everything you do to support Logan!

Logan Book Giveaway: Help Us Keep Students Reading This Summer!

We're excited to announce our annual summer book giveaway! We want every Logan student to head into summer with plenty of books to enjoy.

We're looking for gently used children's books to distribute to our students. If you have books at home that your child has outgrown or finished, we'd love to give them a second life! Please drop off your donations by June 1. The book giveaway will take place on June 2 and 3, so students can fill their bags with stories to read all summer long.

Thank you for helping us foster a love of reading in our Logan community!

Early Release Day- Thursday

Please mark your calendars for Thursday, May 14, which is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 11:50 AM. This half day allows our teachers time for report writing. Please arrange for pickup or after-care accordingly.

Friday Folder Ad Sales

As we begin preparing for the 2026–2027 school year, we want to share an important

need regarding our school “take-home” folders. Due to increasing printing costs, we

must secure additional advertising to ensure these folders remain available for all

students.

Before we look ahead, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to last year’s

sponsors. Your support played a vital role in making these folders possible, and we truly

appreciate your generosity and commitment to our school community.

We are now reaching out to ask for your help once again. Do you, or someone you

know, own or work for a business that might be interested in advertising in our school

folders?

Advertising in our folders is a great way to promote a business while directly supporting

our students. School affiliated businesses wishing to advertise can do so for $350.00.

Parents also have the option to be recognized through a personal sponsorship for just

$75.

For more information or to reserve an ad, please contact Bob Lundwall (National School

Folders) at 586-405-1144 or email lundwallbob@gmail.com.

Thank you for helping us continue this valuable resource for our students!

Volunteers Needed - Help Paint the Rainbow Bench

Hi Logan Families!

The Logan PTSO will provide the paint and supplies, but we’d love your help to repaint the peeling Rainbow Bench for Logan students to enjoy. Please let us know if you are interested in taking on this project by emailing loganeventvolunteers@gmail.com. Thank you!

Monday, May 4, 2026

 Dear Logan Families,

This is Staff Appreciation Week, and I want to share how fortunate we are to have such an exceptional team at Logan. Our staff brings energy, creativity, and heart to everything they do, and our students benefit from their dedication every single day. They create an environment where every child feels seen, supported, and excited to learn. They go above and beyond to build meaningful connections with our students and families, and they celebrate each child's unique gifts and strengths.

I hope you'll take a moment this week to let our Logan staff know how much they mean to you and our community. Whether it's a note, a kind word, or a simple thank you, your appreciation makes a real difference.

Thanks also to our Logan PTSO for planning a week of appreciation for the whole Logan staff!
