Dear Logan Families,
We had a great first week of school, capped off with our Opening Assembly on Thursday. During the assembly, we greeted our students in many languages spoken within our school community, including Arabic, Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Russian, and Spanish. We also welcomed everyone using American Sign Language and an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device, so students could see the various ways people communicate in our community. Following the greetings, I read the book All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold and Suzanne Kaufman to the school community. We introduced the entire Logan staff to the students, and the assembly concluded on the playground with our annual flag-raising ceremony led by our student safeties. It was a lovely end to a great first week of school!

Power Outage at Logan
We had a bit of excitement today! As you may have heard, the power went out this morning just before 11:00 a.m. Our staff did a great job supporting students through the outage, and the kids stayed calm and went with the flow as we waited for DTE to restore power. We maintained our normal school routines as best as possible. The power was restored around 12:30 p.m., and we continued with our school day as usual for the remainder of the day.
Logan Fall After-School Classes
AAPS Rec & Ed is excited to offer several after-school classes focused on fun, learning, movement, and discovery. Registration is NOW OPEN! Click on each class ID# below or visit www.aarecedonline.com. Scholarships are available! Please call (734) 994-2300 ext. 0 for assistance.
Volunteering at Logan
Interested in volunteering at Logan? We’d love to have you! But first, all adults must complete a background check before volunteering at Logan. This includes working in our classrooms, helping out in the lunchroom, supporting in the library, and going on field trips. You must complete the background check every school year, even if you completed it in a previous year. Please click on the link below for directions.
We’re Hiring: Become a Lunchroom Supervisor!
We are looking for more people to work in our lunchroom as lunchroom supervisors. This is a paid, hourly position. Lunchroom staff work two hours per day, supervising during lunch and recess. It’s a great way to spend some time with the kids during the day. Even if you can’t work five days per week, we’re still interested in talking to you! If you’re interested in learning more about this position, please contact Mr. Wright.
