Dear Logan Families,

Last Thursday’s Science Fair was a huge success. Our students did an outstanding job presenting their projects and sharing their learning. It was a great evening of curiosity and discovery, and we’re especially grateful to the University of Michigan chemistry students for their demonstration. You could feel the excitement in the room!

Today we welcomed families to Logan for NAAPID. Thank you to everyone who came to participate in today’s activities and to all families for your daily partnership in your child’s learning. We are so grateful for your involvement in your children’s education!

In this Weekly Update, I’ve included important information about:

  • Mid-Winter Break Reminder

  • Parking Lot Reminder — Dismissal Traffic Flow

  • Ramadan Meals

  • Young 5s/Kindergarten Round Up - This week!

  • Important Upcoming Dates

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Will Wright

Mid-Winter Break Reminder

Mid‑winter break begins this Friday, February 13 and continues through Tuesday, February 17. School resumes Wednesday, February 18. Wishing all Logan families a safe, restful, and restorative mid‑winter break. Also, please note that there will be no family letter next week due to the break.

Parking Lot Reminder — Dismissal Traffic Flow

Please see the following reminders to help our dismissal run smoothly and to keep everyone safe:

  • Turn right when exiting the parking lot. There are no left turns out of the parking lot during dismissal. Left turns slow traffic and extend dismissal times.

  • When waiting to load your children into the car, pull forward as far as possible before loading.

  • After your child is loaded, do not block the right lane when moving into the left lane. Keep pulling forward in the right lane and zipper merge at the parking‑lot exit to keep traffic moving smoothly and safely.

Thank you for your cooperation. Your help makes dismissal faster and safer for all.

Ramadan Meals

AAPS are pleased to offer shelf-stable meals for our students who are observing Ramadan and fasting. Meals will be available during school days starting February 18th, upon return from mid-winter break, through Thursday, March 19, 2026.

Students may pick up these meals during their regular lunch period in the cafeteria lunch line to take home and enjoy after sunset. The meals include a variety of shelf-stable foods that do not require refrigeration and meet Halal requirements.

Students observing the fast are not required to sit in the cafeteria during lunch. We have designated locations for them to be during lunch. However, they will need to pick up their meal from the cafeteria if they wish to get one.

We welcome your input on these meals as we work to ensure they are nutritious, meet USDA requirements, and provide meaningful support to students and families observing Ramadan. Please don't hesitate to share your thoughts with Mike Devries, Chartwells Manager at devriesm@aaps.k12.mi.us or Liz Margolis, Executive Director, School Safety & District Operations at margolisl@aaps.k12.mi.us.

Young 5s/Kindergarten Round Up - This week!

As we enter the new year, it’s not too early to start thinking about some of our youngest students who will start their AAPS experience as kindergarten and young fives students in the fall of 2026. Kindergarten Round-Up events are scheduled throughout the month of February at all elementary schools and K-8 buildings. We are excited to share with families the fun that awaits your children, learn about the programs, the enrollment process and get answers to your questions.

Logan’s Round Up will be on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 6:00pm until 7:30pm. If you plan to enroll a child in either Young 5s or Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school-year, we hope to see you there! Please help us spread the word if you know any families planning to attend Logan next year.
