Dear Logan Families,

Last Call for the Lost and Found

We will be emptying the Lost and Found of all items that have been there for more than a few weeks soon. These items will be donated to a local charity. Photos of lost items were sent by Mrs. Landefeld a few weeks ago. If your child is missing any items, please come to check the Lost and Found by Thursday this week.

Keeping Logan Healthy

We are seeing a high number of illnesses at Logan right now. Please help us keep the Logan community healthy by keeping your child home for any of the following reasons:

  • Any symptoms related to COVID-19. Please refer to the family screener provided by AAPS.

  • Fever: Your child should be fever free, without medication, for 24 hours before returning to school.

  • Rash: Check with the doctor before sending your child to school with a rash.

  • Vomiting: Your child should not have thrown up for 24 hours and be back on his/her regular diet before returning to school.

  • Diarrhea: If your child is having loose stools, he/she needs to stay home to make sure he/she gets enough fluids.

  • Doctor Recommendation: If your child has been to see the doctor, check with the doctor as to when the child can return to school. If your child has been prescribed an antibiotic, check to see how long your child needs to be on the antibiotic before returning to school.

Don’t Forget Your Water Bottle

During the pandemic, all the water fountains at Logan were converted to bottle filling stations. We keep a supply of paper cups on hand, but we prefer kids to have water bottles. Please remember to send one with your child every day. Thanks in advance!

Become a Lunchroom Supervisor!

We are once again looking for a couple more people to work in our lunchroom. This is a paid, hourly position. Lunchroom staff work two hours per day supervising during lunch and recess. It’s a great way to spend some time with the kids during the day. If you’re interested in learning more about this position, please contact Mr. Wright.

Ann Arbor Public Schools Environmental Sustainability Framework

The Ann Arbor Public Schools presented their Environmental Sustainability Framework to the Board of Education on November 30, 2022. Currently, it is open for feedback from the entire community and will be voted on before the end of this calendar year. This is a unique opportunity for teachers, students, and community members to have a say in the environmental future of AAPS and our world. Please review the plan and participate in the ThoughtExchange conversation about the plan by December 11th. You can

review the plan and get the link to share feedback here

Join us for Logan WinterFest

Logan PTSO would like to thank our generous community for all their efforts in making the Fun Run a huge success. To celebrate exceeding our goal the PTSO has organized Logan's first-ever Winterfest - a fun evening of free outdoor ice skating and hot chocolate. PTSO will cover the costs for admissions, skate rental, and a warm beverage from the bear claw truck parked on site. Skating will be from 5:30-6:45pm. Skate rentals will be on site and given on a first come, first serve basis. The number of skates may be limited, so bring your own pair of skates if you have them and limit your skate time to 30 minutes if others are waiting to rent skates. Buhr Park recommends bringing an extra pair of thick socks in case you need to go up a size in skates. If you are a new skater, bringing and wearing a helmet is recommended (bike helmets work great). *Please note that this event is only for logan families (non-logan siblings are included) and we cannot accommodate additional friends or family members.

Logan’s Got Talent

Logan is now accepting audition videos for our annual Talent Show which will take place on Thursday, January 26, 2023. Audition video submissions are due by Friday, December 16. They can be submitted by following this link. See the flier below for more details. We can't wait to see our talented Logan Leopards on the stage!

Logan Helps Set a New World Record!

Congratulations to Coach Kahldon (PE) and to all of our Logan Leopards for helping set a new world record for cup stacking! 737,863 stackers is the new “STACK UP! World Record.” Logan participated in two days of cup stacking to help set this record. Congratulations to all!

AAPS to Eliminate the use of Styrofoam in Cafeterias

Beginning in January 2023, the AAPS will eliminate the use of Styrofoam lunch trays at all elementary schools; and complete the elimination of all Styrofoam materials in cafeteria/food and nutrition services across all locations in the AAPS by the start of the 2023/24 school year. This is announcement is part of the first-ever AAPS Environmental Sustainability Framework that was released last week. If you would like to provide ideas and feedback, AAPS is collecting input through a thought exchange found here

Last Chance - Winter Giving at Logan

Thank you to the Logan community for your generosity! We have just a few items left on our Winter Giving Lists. If you’re interested in donating, there is still time. Once again, here are the details:

The Logan staff has been hard at work making sure that we’re supporting all of our Logan Leopards, and we are beginning two different giving campaigns to support our families. First, we want to make sure that all students have warm winter gear so we are looking for donations of gently used winter clothing items. We created this Sign Up Genius with all of the needs we’ve identified so far. If you have any of these items, please “sign up” for that slot and send your donated item to the main office at Logan. Please make sure the items are clean prior to donating. Put your donated items in a bag and label the bag with the name you used in the Sign Up Genius. You’ll also notice a few items on the list that are not winter gear related. These items are part of the Christmas giving support campaign (see below).

We are also supporting families who celebrate Christmas. We have created this Amazon wish list to help make giving easy. If you’d like to donate a gift to a Logan Leopard, simply select an item from this list and purchase it. Please have the item shipped to your house and then send it to the school. Be sure to label the item “Donation for Winter Giving.”

Thank you to Logan’s Social Workers, Maia Gleason-Teener and Kaylee Keena for organizing these campaigns and thank you in advance to the Logan community for your generosity.
