Dear Logan Families,

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend and a great day of school today. I am spending time popping into classrooms this week so I can see the kids and share a story with each of the classes. It was wonderful seeing so many of them today. I’ve got some more visits planned throughout the week. It was also great “seeing” so many of you at our assembly last week. It was our first attempt at a virtual assembly, and we will continue to seek out ways that we can bring our Logan community together while we’re in this remote learning setting. If you have ideas for community building events, I’d love to hear them.

We began full days of instruction this week. We’re also launching specials classes this week. Classroom teachers will share details about your child’s specials schedule with you. This year, we are joined by some familiar faces and a couple of new faces in our specials department.

  • Art – Aprylle Magar
  • Library – Amy Rodriguez
  • Music – Nicole Joslin
  • PE – Jessica Singleton
  • PLTW – Bridget Zeuty
  • Spanish (4th and 5th grade only) – Kiara Nelson
  • Instrumental Music (5th grade only) – Henry Pakela (Band) and Sara Vaujin (Strings)

Below, I have included an extensive list of updates again. As we progress into the year, these updates will get a little shorter, but we’re doing our best to provide families with as much information as possible. I know you’re busy, but I do appreciate you taking time to read through the details. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Will Wright

Participation and Attendance

We will be taking attendance daily. It is our hope to have students present every day. We are implementing our rigorous AAPS curriculum and it is important that students are present for these learning opportunities. If you know your child won’t be present in class, please email your child’s teacher & cc Mrs. Landefeld  (landefeldc@aaps.k12.mi.us) with "Attendance" in the subject line. For planning purposed, please keep the following in mind:

  • Students should be ready to begin their day at the Morning Meeting, which begins promptly at 8:10a.m.
  • Just like if we are in the classroom, if someone enters late, you will be warmly welcomed, but we strongly encourage all children to be punctual for the sake of their learning and fir the sake of the rest of their classmates.
  • The school day concludes at 3:13p.m.

Of course, we know that there are many, many competing demands on Logan parents.  Remember, we are partners and will work together to support your child and your family’s needs.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out!
