Dear Logan Families,
Welcome to the official start of the 2020-2021 school year! We are excited to see the kids in our virtual classrooms tomorrow. Even while physically apart, we are ready to support each and every one of our Logan Leopards. We know that there may be some stress along the way, whether it’s working out new routines and schedules, or simple hiccups with technology. Please know that we are here in this together, and we will make every effort possible to support our Logan families. We are looking forward to a fabulous start to the school year!
Please take some time and look through the information below. You will find a lot of important details for upcoming school year. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. See you tomorrow!
Sincerely,
Will Wright

- The school day will be 8:10am-11:20am
- Teachers will start each day with a synchronous morning meeting. They will be spending time building their virtual classroom communities, making connections, and introducing the various online tools we’ll be using throughout the year.
- Each morning will finish with a closing circle avidity that will conclude at 11:20am.
- Classroom teachers will share the specific details of their class schedules for the week directly with students and families. Each classroom will have balance of synchronous and asynchronous activities.
Technology Support and Resources
We know that at times technology can be a little stressful. Our goal is to get each and every student connected and engaged in activities this week. To that end, we’re providing tech support in a variety of formats. Tomorrow morning, if you get lost, you can join me and the Logan specials teachers at our Logan Help Center (this link is also on our Logan Community Calendar). Just click on this link, and we’ll be available to help. Additionally, AAPS is providing tech support to all families. The details are bulleted below.
- Our AAPS Tech experts are available! Call 997-1222 or email (7:30 am - 7:30 pm): family_techsupport@aaps.k12.mi.us
- If you are using the new AAPS device, there are a few additional steps. Please see these slides that will walk you through how to use new devices to get to zoom meetings. Note: you will be asked to enter a Meeting ID # which can also be found in our Meet & Greet Zoom Links document as well.
- iPad Zoom Slides
- Chromebook Zoom Slides
- Zoom “How To” Videos can be found here in multiple languages that explain how to operate zoom.
Opening Week Virtual Assembly
We are continuing our tradition of an opening week assembly at Logan! The assembly will be on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 10:00am via Zoom Webinar. The link is on our community calendar. I’ve included the details below as well. Teachers will help direct students to the webinar link on Friday morning. Of course, a little parent support getting students to the right place is always appreciated!

Tech Distribution
Families still in need of technology can still pick up a device this week. Please stay tuned for district announcements with specific details about the exact times, location, and process. Additionally, once updated, the most current information will be found on the district website here: Technology Distribution Plan- Fall 2020
Food Distribution
We are thrilled to announce that we’ll be able to continue food distribution this fall! For a detailed list of food distribution sites and times, click here. It is also very important that families apply for Free and Reduced Lunch. Here is the link to the applications and they are available in five languages on the Free and Reduced Lunch Application page. We will continue to have applications available on the buses at the food distribution sites.
School Supplies
Students will receive school supplies, textbooks and materials in coming weeks. In addition, all students will have 24/7 access to ebooks for class and personal enjoyment via a newly acquired digital library. Expect communication about both the materials distribution and the eLibary soon.
Schoology and Clever Badges
Look for a letter coming through US mail THIS WEEK with information for your child’s Schoology and Clever Badge access. The letter includes badges that students will use to access Clever and Schoology, two learning platforms we’ll be using this year.
