Dear Logan Families,

I hope you had a wonderful long weekend. With just two weeks of school left, there’s a lot going on at Logan! One of the highlights of the year will be our Spring Carnival. It will take place this Friday, June 3 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. While I love this event, and I am so happy that we’re able to host it again, I want to let everyone know that I will not be there. I will be attending my niece’s graduation on the same evening. I’m so sorry to miss it, but we’ll have several Logan staff members there as well as our amazing PTO. Thanks in advance for your understanding!

A2VE Summer Success Program for K-4 Students - Register by May 31, 2022 (TODAY!)

Interested in a flexible summer learning opportunity for your child? The A2 Virtual Elementary Summer Success Program is flexible and self-paced. This program will focus on maintaining and extending literacy and math skills by providing targeted lessons to meet individual interests and needs of students.

Students will independently access lesson materials in order to complete 4 to 5 lessons in math and literacy each week. The lessons are self-guided and interactive.

The program will run from July 5, 2022 through July 29, 2022.

Registration is open through May 31, 2022.

Check out the A2VE Summer Success webpage for additional details.  You are also welcome to email us at a2velementary@a2schools.org with any questions.

Friday, June 10, 2022 - Last Day of School is a Half Day

Our last day of school is a half-day. Students will be dismissed at 11:28am.

AAPS Free and Reduced Lunch Applications - Apply Now!

For the past two years school districts across the United States, including the Ann Arbor Public Schools,  have been fortunate to be able to provide free meals to all students under the COVID-19 pandemic initiatives. While there is still some debate if this free meal program will continue we need to be prepared for this program to end, as announced, at the end of June, 2022.

It is important that qualifying families submit a Free and Reduced Meal application before the start of the 2022/2023 school year to ensure your student(s) receives free or reduced-price meals for the new school year.

If you have an approved application on file for this past school year, that award will be valid the first 30-days of the start of Fall 2022/2023 school year - but you must fill out a new application in order for your student to qualify for free or reduced meals for the remainder of the school year.

How to Apply for Free & Reduced Meals

For students who meet the family income level requirements will reduce or waive meals provided in our schools.  We encourage every AAPS family to apply using the online application process. Select the link to enter  the Ann Arbor Family Portal and select “Guest”, to get started: https://annarbor.familyportal.cloud/

It is fast and easy to apply! You can use your computer, phone or tablet to apply but we suggest you use Google Chrome to better access the application. Please make sure when you fill out the income section you use your GROSS income before taxes and benefits are taken out. It is not the amount deposited into your bank account.

We can also send you a paper application to return to your school or ask the school to put an application in your student’s backpack to fill out. Please contact your school or call the Food Service Office at 734-994-2265.

Helpful Information

  • All meals served to students contain the same fresh and nutritious entrees, sides and drink selections, regardless of ability to pay.

  • Please only submit one application per family. If you have children in multiple school buildings within AAPS, it is not necessary to apply for each student.

  •  All free and reduced-price meal applications are kept confidential per USDA guidelines.

Free Meals for All Students who attend Mitchell, Pittsfield, Scarlett or Pathways

These AAPS schools are designated CEP (Community Eligibility Provision) schools by the Michigan Department of Education and USDA.

Every household attending these schools needs to fill out the Household information Report as required by the USDA. All students attending these schools will be able to eat both Breakfast and Lunch at no charge.

The Household Information Report is also found on the Free and Reduced Lunch application portal  - https://www.a2schools.org/Page/8315

You can complete the form online or print and complete the form and send it in with your child to school.

Important Note

If you have children attending other AAPS schools besides the ones listed above that may qualify for free or reduced meals, you will also need to fill out a Free and Reduced Meal Application for them. Make sure that you list all family members including the child that is attending a CEP school.

Meal Status Letter - after the application has been submitted

Once your Meal Application or Household Information Report is processed you will receive a letter to the email on file with AAPS indicating your student’s approval status.

BE SURE TO KEEP YOUR AWARD LETTER AS YOU CAN USE IT TO APPLY FOR ATHLETIC AND/OR REC & ED SCHOLARSHIPS. Your child can also attend after school classes and other Rec & Ed programs for free or reduced costs if qualified. Visit aareced.com for more information.

Summer Enrichment in the AAPS

Registration is open now for Rec & Ed Summer Enrichment Camps. We’re inviting campers to have fun, form friendships, find new talents and gain confidence with a summer they won’t forget. The possibilities are endless, with art, science, music, chess, robotics, drama, sports and many other types of camps available. Summer Camp 2022 will be in-person, and the AAPS COVID-19 Health and Safety protocols will be followed. Call Rec & Ed for details on scholarships.

Rec and Ed has also shortened the registration process by adopting a software package called ePACT. This allows parents to fill out most information forms one time and will only take a few minutes to review your information and sign any new waivers when registering for subsequent classes.

AAPS InfoSnap Pre-Registration Parent Communication

Our student accounting department sent Info-Snap pre-registration emails to all elementary families this past week. All families should complete the documents sent. This will help us plan for next year and allow families to update your information in PowerSchool if necessary. Please complete the InfoSnap pre-registration information before June 10th so that schools can process the information before staff leave for the summer break. Families can contact the main office for assistance if you are not able to locate the InfoSnap email from our student accounting office.

Student Chromebook Return

Students in young 5s through fifth grade will be returning their AAPS issued Chromebook before the end of the school-year unless they are attending an AAPS sponsored summer program this summer. Students participating in AAPS sponsored summer learning programs should keep their devices and chargers.

We will collect devices from students in young fives through 2rd grade on Wednesday, June 1. We will collect devices from third grade through fifth grade students on Thursday, June 9. Please be sure to send your child’s device and their charger on their assigned pick up day.
