Logan MLK Day Community Service Project

Logan’s PTSO will be sponsoring a community service project to honor the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We are collecting supplies for HouseN2Home, an organization that helps people transition to new homes after experiencing homelessness. You can participate by donating supplies. You can also get your children involved by volunteering to pack household care kits on MLK Day. Full details are outlined on the flier below.

Literacy, Lexia and DreamBox Reminders

As we head into the break, I wanted to remind Logan families about the importance of reading with your kids at home, and about some digital tools available to your children. Reading is crucial to children’s academic development and should be part of every family’s home life. It is expected that all students engage in literacy activities every day at home. Children are encouraged to read high-interest books from a range of genres. Families can support their children by reading books and stories to their children, by asking their children to read to a family member, and by ensuring that children have time set aside for reading. Logan serves an international community and families are encouraged to read in their home languages as well as in English.

In addition, Lexia Core5 and Dreambox are digital tools available to support your child’s literacy and math growth at school and at home.  Both tools are adaptive to the needs of your child and support the development of critical skills.  As the winter break approaches, we are reminding families of the importance of consistent Lexia and Dreambox use at home.  Please see the table below to learn how to help your child access these programs.

Don’t Forget Your Water Bottle

During the pandemic, all the water fountains at Logan were converted to bottle filling stations. We keep a supply of paper cups on hand, but we prefer kids to have water bottles. Please remember to send one with your child every day. Thanks in advance!

Become a Lunchroom Supervisor!

We are once again looking for a couple more people to work in our lunchroom. This is a paid, hourly position. Lunchroom staff work two hours per day supervising during lunch and recess. It’s a great way to spend some time with the kids during the day. If you’re interested in learning more about this position, please contact Mr. Wright.
