Cell Phones and Smart Watches Policy Reminder

We are seeing an increase in the use of phones and smatch watches at Logan, especially with older students. As a reminder, ALL electronic communication devices should be kept in student backpacks during the school day. Students are not permitted to have these devices unless they have been given permission to have them out in class. Parents who need to communicate changes in dismissal plans should communicate directly with the office and with teachers so we are aware of those changes. Students who do not follow school expectations around the use of electronic communication devices may forfeit the right to have them at school. You can review the full policy in the Logan Family Handbook.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is overflowing again! Please stop by to check for missing items. We’ve placed everything by the front entrance for easy access.

In-District Transfer and School of Choice Window Now Open

The second In-District Transfer (IDT) window and the first School of Choice (SOC) window is now open. Applications are being accepted from April 16-May 10. IDT is for families that live within the boundaries of the Ann Arbor Public School district but would like to attend a school that is not their zoned school. SOC is for families that live outside the boundaries of the Ann Arbor Public Schools but would like to school in the Ann Arbor District. More information can be found here

Families who are currently enrolled at Logan do not need to apply. Only families who wish to attend a different school would need to apply. If you know any families who live outside our attendance area and wish to enroll at Logan, please let them know the IDT window is now open.

Class Placement Parent Input Form - LAST CHANCE

Each Spring, our staff works to create class lists for the next school year. We consider many factors when we are developing class lists including: academic and social factors, students who require additional support (ex: ELL, Special Education Services, Reading Intervention,) ethnicity, and gender. Additionally, we seek input from families to help inform our decisions. Please use the linked form  to give us input about your child’s placement next year. ALL families in grades Y5-4 should complete the form. In addition to getting input about class placement, we gather information about who is returning and who is not. Please know that we value your input and want to hear from everyone.  However, our primary obligation is to develop class lists that are balanced and will best serve ALL students.  Therefore, we cannot guarantee any specific placements or requests. Please submit your input by April 26.

Survey to Determine Demand for Before/After Care at Logan - LAST CHANCE

Last week, I shared a survey with the Logan community from the Red & Ed department to help determine the demand for programming at Logan. I’ve included the same message below. I am asking all members of the Logan community to complete the survey if you would make use of before/after care programming at Logan.

At Rec & Ed, we understand how important child care is to working families in AAPS. We have been working hard to hire staff and re-open our Before/After care sites, and we aim to add at least one new site in Fall 2024.  We are surveying a few school communities about their level of interest in a Rec & Ed After Care program.

This After Care Interest Survey is to determine the level of interest at Logan for a Rec & Ed After Care program.

Please fill out this form by April 25, 2024. We will email you an update the week of May 13 using the email you provide below. Here's a link to the After Care Interest Survey
