Dear Logan Families,
We’re just one week away from the start of the 2026–2027 school year! Our staff is hard at work getting classrooms ready and making final preparations to welcome our Logan Leopards back to school. This week’s update includes a few new reminders and announcements, but many important items were shared in last week’s letter/blog. If you didn’t get a chance to read that message, you’ll find it included below for easy reference.

Welcome Back Meet and Greet
Join us on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 2:30–3:30 PM on the Lower Elementary Playground (weather permitting). Come meet your child’s teachers, connect with new and returning families, and enjoy a delicious popsicle!
New Family Orientation
New to Logan? Please join us on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 3:45 PM immediately after our Meet and Greet for a New Family Orientation. We will tour the building, share key information about starting the year at Logan, and answer your questions. You'll also have time to meet other new families.
Class Placement Notification
Class placement notifications will be sent via email on today, Monday, August 24, 2026, in the evening. Please wait until Tuesday, August 25 to contact the Logan office if you do not receive your child’s placement email, or stop by the office during the Meet and Greet to find out your child’s placement.
We take great care in creating balanced classes, considering many variables to ensure groupings that meet student needs. If you feel the need to discuss your child’s placement, I ask that all families complete the first two weeks of school before reaching out to me.
Introducing More Logan Teachers
AAPS Food Service 2026-27 School Year
All students will again receive a free breakfast or lunch meal for this school year.
All individual food items, such as milk, are not free to students. Students must pay for these individual items via the Meal Magic payment system.
Even though the State of Michigan continues to provide free breakfast and lunch meals for all students, it is important that every AAPS family fills out the Education Benefit Form (EBF), regardless of financial status. Filling out the EBF form helps AAPS maintain our current funding levels. We appreciate your assistance in filling out the EBF form.
Without this information from every family, AAPS could lose important state funding for educational programs that our students are entitled to. These supplemental grants and programs have the potential to offer supports and services for our students including, but not limited to:
✓ Instructional staff (ex. Reading Interventionists, Math, Academic and Behavior Aids)
✓ Counselors, Social Workers and School Nurses
✓ Professional Learning for staff
✓ Technology
What do I need to do?
Please complete the EBF form. You may fill out a paper form or complete the form online.
Important Notes:
✓ Include ALL students on one form, even if they attend different AAPS schools.
✓ If you completed the form online, do not fill out a paper copy. Contact Food Service to verify submission.
✓ For translations: visit a2schools.org
How do I submit my form? Choose one of the following methods:
1. Online: visit https://annarbor.familyportal.cloud, then click “Apply for Benefits”
2. In person: Return completed form to your student’s school.
3. By Mail:

Bus Routes Now Available
Bus routes for the 2026-2027 school year are now available! You can view route information, including bus numbers, stop locations, and times, on the AAPS website. Please visit www.a2schools.org/about-aaps/bus-routes/logan to find your student's bus route. If you have questions about transportation, please contact the AAPS Transportation Department at 734-994-2200.
Space Available Busing
In an effort to increase access and opportunity for all AAPS students, the district offers "Space Available Busing" for students who don't live in the busing zone, in-district transfer students, or school of choice students. Families interested in Space Available Transportation must apply annually and abide by all district transportation regulations, rules, and guidelines.
Important information:
Applications are reviewed after the first count day in October. Families will be notified by mid-October if approved.
Students may not ride a bus route until approved.
No new bus routes or bus stops are created. Families must apply using an existing bus stop from the published bus routes, which can be found here: AAPS Bus Routes.
Parents/guardians are responsible for drop-off and pick-up at the approved bus stop location.
Young 5 and Kindergarten students must be met by an approved adult at the bus stop at the end of the school day.
Submission of an application does not guarantee availability or approval.
If approved, students must follow AAPS Board of Education Transportation Policy 3760 & 3760 R. 01. To apply for Space Available Busing, please complete the online form at this link

Logan Family Handbook
We publish a Family Handbook every year. It is full of information for families, and I ask everyone to take some time to read it. It is posted on our website (It’s a downloadable PDF. Just click on the image), and it is our hope that it answers many of your questions. Feel free to reach out to me or your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
New Logan ES @ Clague News - August 2026
To support construction of the new Logan Elementary, the following activities will take place on the Clague Middle School campus and are referenced on the site plan below. Current Work, Weather Permitting:
Interior work: metal stud framing, mechanical, electrical & plumbing continues.
Exterior sheathing is in progress, pictured below left.
Floor slab pours continue, pictured below right.
Stormwater improvements, regulated by the City of Ann Arbor, are in progress.
The Clague Middle School campus is expected to re-open by Monday, August 24th, using Bluett Road.
City of Ann Arbor Work:
The Nixon Road Corridor Improvement Project is in-progress and Nixon Road is expected to reopen near the end of August 2026. Please visit the City’s project page to sign up for City updates.
Please note:
Parents and staff may enter using the Bluett Road entrance to start the 2026-2027 school year, as noted below.
Construction parking and construction access drives are for construction personnel only and to ensure safety, staff and parents should refrain from using construction parking and/or drives.
Emails will continue to be sent, to provide updates on campus activities.
