Girls on the Run Team at Logan
Dream it! Do it! Be it! By using a research-based curriculum that creatively integrates physical activity with valuable life lessons, Girls on the Run empowers girls to develop the confidence and character they need to become strong, healthy leaders in our community. Logan's Girls on the Run Spring 2022 program will have practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5:30pm beginning April 5th and running through the end of May and will be coached by five volunteer coaches, four of whom are Logan parents. All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade girls are invited to join the team and run with us as we learn how far we can go! Register your daughter at https://www.girlsontherunsemi.org/Register-Now before April 1st (we can have a maximum of 20 girls on our team). Program cost is $185 and includes 8 weeks of training, a t-shirt, water bottle, cinch sack, journal, a beautiful 5K medal and a celebratory 5K event. If you are interested in having your daughter join but cannot afford the registration cost, please contact Mr. Wright. For questions please email kristen.muehlhauser@yahoo.com or simonao@umich.edu.
Give Kids a Smile Day Free Dental Clinic: April 9th
The University of Michigan School of Dentistry is hosting a free dental clinic for children this coming April 9th, 2022. During the event, dental students, along with clinical faculty and residents, will volunteer their time to provide free oral health care to children.
The event will be held at the School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor (1011 N University Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48109).
How to Register: Email gkasumsod@gmail.com or call 989-787-0712.
Reminder: Volunteers at Logan
In her recent Superintendent Update, Dr. Swift shared that schools would begin welcoming volunteers back into the buildings. We are thrilled to welcome our parents and community members back at Logan! We will begin welcoming parents back to support in the library (see below), a limited number of volunteers in our classrooms, and volunteer coaches for Science Olympiad.
In welcoming volunteers back into our buildings, AAPS will require:
- a submitted and cleared volunteer background check form
- proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
- all volunteers shall watch a short orientation video that highlights AAPS health and safety protocols including our COVID mitigation measures. Please note that at this time, all volunteers must wear a mask while in the building.
To assist with these steps, all volunteers should complete this form. The information provided will allow us to run your background check, document your proof of vaccination, and ensure volunteers have watched our orientation video.
Welcome back Logan families! We can’t wait to see you!
Library Volunteers Needed
Volunteering in the Logan Library is an opportunity to directly impact Logan students! Logan’s Librarian, Mrs. Rodriguez, enthusiastically welcomes you to take part in the Library program. Volunteers may work individually or in pairs to:
- Sort, organize, and shelve books
- Organize & tidy shelves
- Assist students in the library
- Check books in and out
- Repair damaged books
- Apply labels and protective covering to new library books
- Create signage or displays
All volunteers must complete the above process before volunteering in the library. Once you are approved to volunteer, you can start volunteering in the library. Here is a link to the Library Volunteer Interest Form. We hope many of you will be able to join the crew in the Logan Library!
