Early Release Day – Tuesday, February 23
As a reminder, Tuesday, February 23, 2021 is an early release day of school for our students. All classes will complete virtual learning at 10:53 a.m. Students will be out of school the rest of the day in order for teachers and staff to write term 2 report cards and progress reports.
Materials and Book Distribution
After consulting with our grade level teams, the only grade level that will be distributing materials is first grade. Materials will be distributed on Thursday, February 24 between 4:00pm and 5:00pm. We ask all first-grade families to attend. If you cannot make it, please work with a friend or neighbor to see if they can pick up materials for you. In addition, we only received a limited number of book donations so at this time, we will not be doing a book distribution. We will leave the book donation outside Logan. When we accumulate enough books, we’ll host another book distribution day.
A Resource for Families Who Qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch
A new round of EBT cards will soon be distributed to qualifying families. You can learn more about the program on AAPS’s website by clicking on the following link.
AAPS Pandemic EBT Instructions
Your family’s address must be current in our database or the cards, to be mailed by the state, will get lost in the USPS. If you’ve moved recently, please contact Christy Landefeld at landefeldc@aaps.k12.mi.us ASAP to confirm we have the correct address on file. Cards will begin to be distributed on March 1.
Welcoming a New Teacher
I am very pleased to share that Maria Babcock has accepted the kindergarten teaching position at Logan. Mrs. Babcock has been working as a long-term sub this year. This hiring moves her to a permanent position in our school. Mrs. Babcock has done outstanding work as a long-term substitute, working tirelessly to create a supportive online learning environment for your children. I am so grateful to her for stepping into this role during a time of such uncertainty and for providing consistency and stability to your children throughout this school-year. I am confident that she’ll bring the same high-quality instruction to the classroom when we return in to in-person learning. Please join me in officially welcoming Mrs. Babcock to the Logan team.
Connecting Together: An AAPS Parent/Guardian Support Group
Twice-a-month Drop in support groups for parents and guardians of student's in AAPS. Groups meet on the 2nd Tuesday (7:30-8:30PM) and 4th Thursday (1-2PM) of the month. Connect with other parents to find support and get ideas about how to face the challenges of 2020. Please register here. Last year, parents who participated in an AAPS parent support group consistently reported that they found it helpful, and appreciated hearing from and connecting with other parents going through similar struggles. We also offer parent support groups in Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Arabic and Japanese. See the dates for these groups and register for bilingual groups here.
