Dear Logan Families,

Happy first day of March! It is hard to believe that is has been almost one year since we have had students in the building. As we approach this one-year anniversary, I am so happy that we’re moving toward returning to in-person learning. Please take time to read through this Weekly Update and be sure to pay close attention to details on the parent information session.

Hybrid Learning Parent Information Session

All Logan families received an email on Friday asking them to indicate their choice between remaining fully virtual or switching to a hybrid learning option. In order to assist families in making this decision, I will be hosting an informational webinar on Tuesday, March 2 at 6:00pm. The purpose of this session is to provide an overview of the hybrid learning option and to provide information about the foundational health and safety measures. There will also be time for questions and answers. I encourage you to submit your questions in advance. Please submit your questions by the end of the day today so I have time to prepare. Help with Hybrid Learning

In one of the questions I already received, a parent asked, “How can we help Logan?” As we move toward launching hybrid learning, the area where we will need the most support is in the lunchroom. During hybrid learning, volunteers will NOT be allowed in the building. Therefore, I am looking for people who would be willing to be hired to work for a couple hours on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The ideal candidate is available every day, but I am willing to work with people who have partial availability. If you are interested, please contact me by email ASAP. Thanks for considering!


Recognition for our Logan Teachers

I am so proud of the efforts by our entire staff for the work they’ve done to provide high quality online learning experiences for our Logan Leopards!  The following teachers were nominated by an AAPS parent, staff member, student or other community member to receive the AAPS Excellence in Virtual Instruction Award, sponsored by Google.   We thank them for the amazing work they have done every day for our students.  Their hard work and dedication has been noticed and appreciated.

March is Reading Month 

Some fabulous AAPS Librarians have created a March is Reading Month calendar with links for each day.  Mrs. Rodriguez and the Logan staff are sharing these activities with the kids. We encourage you to incorporate them into your home routines as well.

New Meal Distribution Schedule

Starting Wednesday, March 10, meal distribution will take place every week on Wednesdays. It is the same location and same times. Families will continue to receive seven days of meals, break, lunch, and dinner.


Connecting Together: An AAPS Parent/Guardian Support Group

Twice-a-month Drop in support groups for parents and guardians of student's in AAPS. Groups meet on the 2nd Tuesday (7:30-8:30PM) and 4th Thursday (1-2PM) of the month. Connect with other parents to find support and get ideas about how to face the challenges of 2020. Please register here. Last year, parents who participated in an AAPS parent support group consistently reported that they found it helpful, and appreciated hearing from and connecting with other parents going through similar struggles. We also offer parent support groups in Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Arabic and Japanese. See the dates for these groups and register for bilingual groups here.
