Dear Logan Families,
As we prepare to launch our hybrid model, I have a lot of information to share! I’m sending an additional Weekly Update this week with some important information. This update includes information about:
- Welcome Back and Orientation Video for Returning Students
- Asynchronous Lessons Reminder
- Changes to the Daily Schedules
- Cohort Placements for Virtual Students
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Will Wright
Welcome Back and Orientation Video for Returning Students
I created a video that provides a virtual tour of the school. We know that some students are a little worried about returning because they don’t know what to expect or they’ve never been in the building. The intended audience for this video is your kids. It shows them around the school and includes information about how school will operate while they’re in the building. If your child is returning for hybrid learning, please sit down and watch the video with them. I hope it is helpful!

Asynchronous Lessons Reminder
As we prepare to launch our hybrid model, I just wanted to remind everyone about our asynchronous days. This information was included in my Weekly Update on Monday as well. In order to give teachers time to set up their classrooms before launching hybrid instruction, there will be three asynchronous days of learning prior to each phase. This means self-contained classes, our young 5s class, and kindergarten classes will have asynchronous days on March 22, March 23, and March 24. First and second grade will have three asynchronous days on March 24, March 25, and March 26. Third, fourth, and fifth grade classes will have asynchronous days on April 7, April 8, and April 9. Teachers will provide work for students to complete, but there will be no synchronous classes on these days.
In addition, specials teachers will be providing asynchronous lessons next week. They’ll be using the time to prepare their classrooms and to support all Phase 1 returning students. Students are expected to complete their assignments during their normal specials times.
Changes to the Daily Schedules
With the launch of hybrid, ALL students will experience shifts in their schedules. Families can expect shifts in the times students attend specials and the times students attend lunch as well as other shifts. Classroom teachers will communicate their specific class schedule to families prior to the launch of each phase. Next week, the schedule for students in grades 1-5 will remain largely the same as it has been this year with a few minor shifts for fourth and fifth grade. Those changes will be communicated by teachers. Following spring break, all grade levels will move to new schedule. Here are a few key changes to expect:
- 8:10am – Day begins for virtual students
- 9:00am – 9:10am – Arrival window for in-person students
- 11:10am-11:58am – Lunch/Recess for grades Y5-3 and Self-Contained Class
- 12:00pm-12:48pm – Lunch/Recess for grades 4-5
- 2:10pm – Dismissal for in-person students
- 3:13pm – End of instruction for virtual students
Cohort Placements for Virtual Students
Once hybrid launches, students who selected the hybrid model will attend specials remotely on the days that they’re not at school. All students who have elected to remain virtual have been assigned to one of the two cohorts (Monday/Tuesday cohort or Thursday/Friday cohort) and will attend specials with that cohort. Classroom teachers will communicate the assigned cohorts and schedules to virtual only families as well.
