Cohort Placements

We are proceeding with A-L cohorts and M-Z cohorts in most Logan classrooms. I sent emails to all classes that were out of balance last week requesting volunteers to move. If you did not receive an email, your child’s class cohorts are balanced. For those families that received an email requesting volunteers to switch cohorts, I will be contacting volunteers today and tomorrow to let them know if their child will be moved. Thank you to all of our volunteers!

*A note to all families who chose virtual: We understand that some families may change their minds as we progress through the spring and request to be added to a hybrid classroom. Please understand that in making these requests, we may not be able to honor the original A-L/M-Z cohorts. When requesting a change, you will be assigned to a cohort that maintains a balance between the two groups.

Launching Hybrid – Asynchronous Days

As a reminder, Phase 1 students (self-contained, Y5s, and K) will be launching hybrid on March 25, Phase 2 students (1st and 2nd grades) will be launching hybrid on April 5, and Phase 3 students (3rd through 5th grades) will be launching hybrid on April 12. In order to give teachers time to prepare set up their classrooms before launching hybrid instruction, there will be three asynchronous days of learning prior to each phase. This means self-contained classes, young 5s classes, and kindergarten classes will have asynchronous days on March 22, March 23, and March 24. First and second grade will have three asynchronous days on March 24, March 25, and March 26. Third, fourth, and fifth grade classes will have asynchronous days on April 7, April 8, and April 9 (*These dates are tentative for 3-6. We are awaiting confirmation from AApS). Teachers will provide work for students to complete, but there will be no synchronous classes on these days.

Additionally, we will be launching a new specials schedule. ALL students can expect a new schedule once hybrid launches. Classroom teachers will communicate this schedule as soon as it is available.

Family Handbook – Hybrid Edition

The Logan Family Handbook: Hybrid Edition is now available on the Logan homepage. This handbook provides families who have chosen to return for hybrid learning information about the operation of our school during hybrid learning. Please be sure to read the handbook prior to sending your children to school. As we progress through the spring, we anticipate some refinement in our practices. We will communication any changes to these policies and procedures to the Logan community when they occur. We will also post an updated handbook whenever a policy or procedure changes. Check back often for the most current information.

Breakfast and Lunch Options for Hybrid Learning

Student School Breakfast and Lunches are Free for the rest of the school year but you must order lunch for your student. Families will need to order student lunches using the new

AAPS Online Student Lunch Ordering system. For the rest of this school year families will not be charged for breakfast or lunch but you must register for the program at sendmoneytoschool.com in order for your student to receive a free lunch on their hybrid in-school learning day. Questions? Contact AAPS Food Service at 734-994-2265.

Missing Library Books

When we closed our building last spring, we emptied our library and sent books home with our Logan leopards. We still have over 600 books missing from the library now. We are asking all families to check your shelves one last time and return any library books that you still have. Books can be dropped at Logan during school hours.

Logan Heritage Festival

The Logan community is creating a cookbook as part of our virtual Heritage Festival celebration, and we want your recipes! Students, families, teachers, staff please send us your favorite recipe and a short description of why it’s special to you. Maybe it’s food from the country that you lived in before you came to Ann Arbor, or a special dish to celebrate a holiday. Maybe it’s a birthday treat, or your favorite dinner. Maybe it’s a recipe that’s been in your family for so long you don’t know who first made it, or maybe it’s something delicious you discovered this year during quarantine.

Everyone is encouraged to submit a recipe and everyone will get a copy of the cookbook later this spring. Information on how to submit can be found HERE and in the March Logan Ledger.

AAPS Enrollment Windows

Enrollment for 2021-22 opens on March 16. Please help us spread the word. Families who live in our attendance area can enroll at any time. The enrollment window for in-district transfer applicants open March 16 and closes April 5 at 5:00pm. The school-of-choice window is not yet open. If you’re the parent of a fifth grader and you are enrolled at Logan through in-district transfer or school of choice, you must apply for in-district transfer to send your child to Clague (or any other AAPS middle school program outside of your attendance area). All Young 5s students will be automatically enrolled in Logan kindergarten. Parents of Young 5s students should inform the office if you do not plan on sending your child to Logan next year.
