Dear Logan Families,

I wanted to send two quick announcements before we head into the weekend. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Sincerely,

Will Wright

M-STEP for 3-5 Students

Yesterday, you received an email from Dr. Swift about state testing. AAPS is participating in the state assessments (MSTEP) as on opt-in option only. While in the past, all students in grades 3-11 were required to take spring assessments, this year, the Michigan Department of Education has allowed Michigan school districts to give students the opportunity to choose the option of taking the state assessments at school. As a school and as a district, we will not be using M-STEP data to make curricular decisions, decisions about school improvement, nor any decisions related to individual children. Here at Logan, our goal for the remainder of the year is to maximize our limited in-person instructional time and utilize our other formative growth assessments to help us individualize instruction for your children. If you decide you do want to have your child take the MSTEP, please understand that the assessment will take place during the live, in person, instructional day. Students participating in the hybrid day will take the test outside their normal classroom, and the assessment will be proctored by school personnel other than your child’s teacher. If you are choosing to opt-in to these assessments, please complete the survey sent to families by April 26. If you have any questions, please let me know.
