Dear Logan Families,
Today we welcome back the third-grade hybrid students. It’s wonderful having another class of kids in the building! As you know, the fourth and fifth grade return was delayed one week. We are looking forward to welcoming those students back to the building next week.
In my Weekly Update this week, I’ve included information about:
- Updated Family Handbook
- Enrollment at Logan: Spread the Word
- Logan Yearbook
- A Message from Mrs. Cunningham, Second Grade Teacher
- Heritage Festival Cookbook – DEADLINE EXTENDED
- Update from the Logan Library
- PTO Interest Survey
- Mark Your Calendar
- Helpful Links on the AAPS Website
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Will Wright
Updated Family Handbook
There is a revised version of the Logan Family Handbook on our website (and attached to this email). You can access the handbook by visiting Logan’s webpage and clicking on the link to the Family Handbook. There was a change to the guidance on quarantining. Students who experience COVID-19 symptoms cannot return to school unless they receive a negative PCR COVID test, have a differential diagnosis from a physician, or they have quarantined for 14 days and their symptoms are gone (please note, students need to meet only one of these criteria, not all three). The previous guidance required a 10-day quarantine. This revision reflects the latest guidance from the Washtenaw County Health Department.
Daily Screening Reminder
As you know, an important part of our mitigation effort is for families to complete a daily screening: Daily Student Pre-Screening for COVID-19 Symptoms. Hybrid families should review this document daily with their children before sending them to school. Please help us keep our community safe and do not send your child to school if they are experiencing any symptoms. Better safe than sorry! Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns about this.
Enrollment at Logan: Spread the Word
If you live in Logan’s attendance area, and you have a new student to our school for next year, please complete your enrollment application as soon as possible. Enrollment is ongoing for families who live in our attendance area. Help us spread the word to your friends and neighbors as well. We are in the process of planning for next school year and having accurate numbers for the number of students likely to attend helps us plan for the number of classrooms we need. Even if you’re not 100% certain if you’ll be sending your child to Logan, please still complete the enrollment process. You can learn more at www.a2schools.org/enrollment.
Logan Yearbook
Even though we will have spent most of the year learning online, we are still creating a yearbook for our Logan Leopards, and it is going to be awesome! As we have in previous years, we will be providing a yearbook to all Logan students, but we need some help. In previous years, we used money from school pictures to pay for a yearbook for each student. Since we do not have school pictures this year, we are asking all families who are able to purchase a yearbook for $10. If you are able, we are asking families to donate an additional $10 to pay for another student’s yearbook whose family may not have the resources to purchase for their child. We plan to distribute a yearbook to every Logan Leopard! Help us make this possible and consider donating. See the attached flyer for more information.
A Message from Mrs. Cunningham, Second Grade Teacher
Hello Logan Family,
It is with mixed emotions I am letting you know that I will be leaving Logan at the end of the school year. My husband has accepted an amazing job opportunity and we will be moving to Seattle, Washington after the end of the school year. I’ve absolutely loved teaching at Logan. The staff, students and families are one of a kind and living in the neighborhood, immersed in the community made it even better. I’ve worked at a few different schools in my career and nothing comes close to this place. I can only hope my future school will be something like Logan. Thank you for welcoming me here these last few years and making me part of the family. I have truly loved working with your children.
Heritage Festival Cookbook – DEADLINE EXTENDED
The Logan community is creating a cookbook as part of our virtual Heritage Festival celebration, and we want your recipes! Students, families, teachers, staff please send us your favorite recipe and a short description of why it’s special to you. Maybe it’s food from the country that you lived in before you came to Ann Arbor, or a special dish to celebrate a holiday. Maybe it’s a birthday treat, or your favorite dinner. Maybe it’s a recipe that’s been in your family for so long you don’t know who first made it, or maybe it’s something delicious you discovered this year during quarantine.
Everyone is encouraged to submit a recipe and everyone will get a copy of the cookbook later this spring. Information on how to submit can be found HERE and in the March Logan Ledger.

Update from the Logan Library
Do you have school library books at home?
Please bring those books to school to be returned to the library. If you have books from another building, those books can be returned to our building as well. Look for a bin or table outside our school's front door. If you are remaining virtual for the remainder of the school year, you can hold on to AAPS library books until we can all return this school year or until next fall.
What about late or lost fines?
Our library does not charge late fees. As for lost books, we understand many families have been impacted this past year and will be waiving costs related to school library books.
Are you not sure if you have school library books at home?
Mrs. Rodriguez will be emailing library book notices, with book titles included.
PTO Interest Survey
The Logan Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) is seeking volunteers to serve on the PTSO Board for the 2021-2022 school year.
While meeting virtually all year, PTSO is still working hard to support our students and teachers. The PTSO supports Logan in many ways - from teacher vouchers, academic assemblies (including virtual opportunities) to school beautification, among other ways.
Serving on the board is a great way to get involved and support the school. Check out the survey linked below to express interest in volunteering for a role(s) on the Logan Elementary PTSO 2021-22 Board.
Your support and participation are so appreciated!
