 Dear Logan Families,

As we kick off the first week of March, I’m excited to share a major milestone in our school community's future, the installation of the final beam at our new building! Check out this video of the topping-out ceremony. Prior to installation, all students and staff members had a chance to sign the beam. Our names will not be preserved on it for as long as that building exists! This moment brings us one step closer to opening our doors in this brand-new space.

In this Weekly Update, I’ve included important information about:

  • 2026 LaFontaine Teacher of the Year Nomination

  • Family Traditions and Heritage Festival

  • In-District Transfer Window - Now Open

  • Rotary Food Drive Hosted by Logan Student Council

  • Important Upcoming Dates

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Will Wright

2026 LaFontaine Teacher of the Year Nomination

The Teacher of the Year Program recognizes the great contribution teachers make in Washtenaw County and to the learning community.  This award recognizes and honors teacher experience.  It does not attempt to select the "best" teacher; but rather, to identify, from among many outstanding teachers, one teacher to serve as a visible and vocal representative of what is best in the profession.

The LaFontaine family wishes to honor the amazing teachers within Washtenaw County and recognize them for their hard work and efforts they put in every single school year. The Teacher of the Year will receive a $5,000 cash award toward classroom expenses or continuing education; the second-place winner (Distinguished Teacher) will receive a $1,000 cash award towards classroom expenses and the third-place winner (Commendable Teacher) will receive a $500 cash award towards classrooms expenses.

Submit nominations for the 2026 LaFontaine Teacher of the Year Award by completing each section of this form by THURSDAY, MARCH 19, 2026. Nominations can be submitted by colleagues, administrators, board members, parents, students, and community members at https://forms.gle/wovRLGwWg6TSfEQC8

Family Traditions and Heritage Festival

The 2025 Logan Family Festival will take place on Friday, April 17th, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the Multipurpose Room/Gym.This festival is an opportunity for us to celebrate and honor our multicultural identity as a school community, our heritages and our family traditions through sharing our favorite meal! Families are invited to share a favorite dish by submitting their contribution by Wednesday, April 8th. Participating families should bring their dish to the gym between 5:40 and 5:45 PM on the day of the event, ensuring it is labeled and includes a list of ingredients. Flyers with more details will be sent home in students' Friday Folders.
